Project Manager
Elland, West Yorkshire

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity or gender, but as members of ethnic minority groups and women are currently under-represented in the co-op, we particularly encourage applications from women and ethnic minority candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone.

About Us

Here at Suma, we’ve been doing things a bit differently for over 40 years. Not only in our mission to supply everything vegetarian, ethical, and sustainable but also in how we run our successful business.

Suma is a worker co-operative; a business owned and run by over 200 members who work here. We’re a group of ordinary people who have built a business on principles of integrity and equality. Suma workers work together collectively to set the direction of the business - there are no shareholders and no traditional ‘bosses’. Everyone at Suma gets paid the same wage, takes personal and equal responsibility, and does a range of different jobs each week.

We are now looking for a Project Manager to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working 24 hours per week over 3 days. We are also open to discussing full-time options for candidates seeking more hours.

The Benefits

- Salary of £36,000 (pro-rata)
- Generous holiday entitlement & pension (8% contributions when a member)
- profit share bonus
- Staff discount on our stock
- Overtime can be taken as pay or time off in lieu
- Access to occupational sick pay
- Free hot meals in the staff canteen
- An equal say in the running of our business

This is a unique opportunity for a project manager with experience of handling multiple projects to join our forward-thinking, co-operative business.

In this role, you’ll have the chance to shape the way we work, making a real difference to our operations whilst growing your project portfolio and enjoying flexible working options and having a real say in how our co-op operates and grows.

So, if you’re ready to join an organisation where equality is at the heart of everything we do, read on and apply today!

The Role

As a Project Manager, you will lead and manage multiple projects across the business to enable us to execute our business plans and strategic objectives.

You will be responsible for overseeing every stage of the project lifecycle, from establishing a business case and planning objectives to ensuring successful project delivery within scope, budget, and deadlines.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll manage resources, mitigate risks and keep stakeholders updated on progress, ensuring that our co-operative continues to run smoothly and efficiently.

Additionally, you will:

- Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in line with business needs
- Schedule tasks and assign responsibilities within project teams
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary
- Ensure that all projects adhere to agreed quality standards
- Evaluate project outcomes and provide post-project feedback for improvement

About You

To be considered as a Project Manager, you will need:

- Proven experience in managing multiple projects (or multiple different areas of work) simultaneously
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- A solid understanding of the benefits of project management methodologies
- The ability to ensure project outcomes align with strategic objectives
