Fixed Term Contract
Warehouse Picker (2023)
Elland, Halifax
Fixed-term position for pickers in our busy warehouse, primarily on 2pm-10pm shifts.
***We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity or gender, but as members of ethnic minority groups and women are currently under-represented in the co-op we particularly encourage applications from women and ethnic minority candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone.***
We recruit temporary workers on an ongoing basis to work at our West Yorkshire warehouse, picking our customers orders.
It’s hard work and involves heavy lifting, so we're looking for highly motivated workers who are physically fit, quick learning, quick thinking and quick on their feet but you’ll be well rewarded with good pay at the same rate as everyone else, the kind of open and democratic culture you’d expect from a large worker co-op and a fantastic vegetarian/vegan meal every day. Although this is a fixed-term position, we do recruit from our fixed-term workforce into permanent membership of the co-op, so it's a good way to get a taste of what a workers co-op is all about.
We offer 18 month contracts for Warehouse Pickers, across our three shifts (but primarily 2pm-10pm shifts) and across 7 days of the week.
This would be for either 3 or 4 days per week, though extra days/hours may be required if we are busy.
We are looking for candidates who share our values as a workers co-operative and a vegetarian wholesaler, and who have some relevant or transferable experience.
If you are interested in playing fast-paced Tetris with tetrapaks of oat milk and sacks of organic lentils then we'd love to hear from you!
(Due to the high volume of applications for this role we do not contact unsuccessful applicants and we don't offer feedback. We keep applications on file for up to six months. If you haven't heard from us in that time and the vacancy is still advertised please feel free to apply again).
