HR Advisor
Elland, Calderdale

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to come and join us at Suma Wholefoods.

Duties include:

- To be a source of knowledge and expertise on HR processes and employment legislation
- Work as part of a team to ensure best practice on recruitment and selection, disciplinary and grievance, and other HR processes
- Develop and review policy in line with best practice and Suma’s strategic needs
- Support the wider team to deliver an effective HR support and advisory service encompassing all people-related issues.
- Support the development and delivery of Suma’s HR strategy

About you

- Proven work experience as an HR advisor or similar role
- CIPD level 5+
- Experience and knowledge of employment law
- Experience of report writing, policy creation and presentation
- Strong communication skills
- Organisation and prioritising
- Ability to build good working relationships
- Great attention to detail

This role is suitable for flexible working, including some homeworking however the successful candidate will need to be available to work onsite too.

Salary

Suma is an equal pay organisation, so everyone is on the same hourly wage of £16.24
The annual wage for a 40-hour contract is £33,779 plus benefits.

Hours

32 - 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
This role is suitable for flexible working, including some homeworking however the successful candidate will need to be available to work onsite too.

We are looking for drivers to join our distribution team in Greenford.
You will be delivering and collecting goods in a safe, efficient and legal manner on behalf of Suma. You will follow all procedures as set out by Suma & external authorities pertaining to safe and legal driving.
Delivery driving for Suma can be a demanding and difficult job both physically and mentally. Suma drivers provide a vital service and communication link between Suma and our customers and must work in a safe and legal manner whilst demonstrating excellent levels of service and behaviours in line with the values and principles of the Co-op. Suma drivers are largely self-managing to execute normal daily tasks but immediate communication, feedback and discussion with coordinators/debrief is required and expected to ensure any issues (defects, accidents, deliveries etc etc) can be managed in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure our vehicles remain roadworthy and safe and no unnecessary disruption to the distribution process.
Our drivers do more than a driving job. They are the face of our cooperative business, ensuring that our customers get the best impression of our organisation. Delivering and collecting goods in a safe, efficient and legal manner, completing all paperwork and leaving everyone you meet with a positive impression of you and our business. The main function of the night loader is to transfer palletised goods from trailers arriving from Elland to our delivery vehicles using an FLT. Goods need to be loaded in an accurate, safe and efficient manner ensuring the wagons are available for the drivers to take out when they arrive.
Palletised collections and returns will then be loaded back onto the trunking trailer for the return journey. The job requires a high degree of self-management and decision making as you’ll often have to manage without immediate support of colleagues.

Main Tasks

• Opening and closing Suma warehouse with keys and alarm code.
• Unloading palletised deliveries from trailer from Elland.
• Re-loading trunking trailer with palletised collections and empty pallets.
• Following a load plan to ensure pallets are correctly located on delivery vehicles.
• Shunting of delivery vehicles within confines of Suma premises.
• Coordinating transfer of customer paperwork between trunk driver and delivery drivers.
• Strapping every pallet on every vehicle prior to drivers arriving for work.
• Carrying out routine daily checks on FLT and reporting any faults to coordinator ASAP. Completing the daily inspection sheet prior to starting shift and reporting any defects that occur during the course of the night.
• Abiding by safe working practices relating to vehicle shunting, loading & unloading, FLT driving and lone working.
• Potential for cover driving (either van or LGV dependent on licence entitlement).
• Basic truck maintenance in relation to standard daily truck checks, topping oil levels etc.


Job Requirements
• Available to work required shifts and overtime during the week and on the day as required.
• FLT Licence.
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Cat C driving licence Inc. CPC qualification (beneficial but not essential).
• Ability to drive FLT in a safe, legal and conscientious manner.
• Knowledge of relevant loading procedures and laws.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently without supervision.
• Observe all H&S rules and guidelines (including safe operation of machinery).
• Ability to work to deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Able to work unsociable hours.

Warehouse Picker

We recruit temporary workers on an ongoing basis to work at our Elland warehouse or drive our trucks.

We offer up to 18 month contracts for Warehouse Pickers and LGV Drivers. Because Suma is busy it’s hard work, but you’ll be well rewarded with pay at the same rate as everyone else, plenty of options for paid overtime, the kind of open and democratic culture you’d expect from a large worker co-op, and for those based in Elland, a fantastic meal every day.
